Sarah Michelle Gellar ("I Know What You Did Last Summer")
Just as she was rising in nerd-fame as "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" on the small screen, Sarah Michelle Gellar was also hitting the big screen as a Scream Queen to be reckoned with in "I Know What You Did Last Summer" and "Scream 2," both released in 1997. While it's more enjoyable to watch Gellar kick butt than scream bloody murder, you can't argue that she doesn't have the pipes to give our other contenders a run for the money (or title). Gellar found success starring in the American adaptation of the Japanese horror film "Ju-on: The Grudge" in 2004. In fact, one could argue that most of her post-Buffy success has been in the horror market. Her attempts to break out in edgy roles like 2006's "Southland Tales" crashed and burned in a real horrible way. Gellar returned to thrillers and horrors this year with another Hollywood remake of an Asian film: "Possession."
