ABC has given series orders to drama Notorious and comedy Imaginary Mary. Both are co-productions between Sony TV and ABC LogoABC Studios. Notorious, from Josh Berman and The Firm, had been an early standout at the network, while Imaginary Mary, from The Goldbergs team of Adam F. Goldberg, David Guarascio and Happy Madison, had received high marks for its seamless blending of live-action and CGI animation. The pickup gives The Goldbergs creator Goldberg, Happy Madison and Sony TV two comedy series on ABC. Watch the first-look teasers for the two new shows below.
Notorious, inspired by the true-life stories of famed criminal defense attorney Mark Geragos and cable news producer Wendy Walker, who serve as executive producers, is a provocative look at the unique, sexy, and dangerous interplay of criminal law and the media. Berman co-wrote the project with Allie Hagan.
Piper Perabo, Daniel Sunjata, Sepideh Moafi, Kate Jennings Grant, Ryan Guzman, Kevin Zegers, J. August Richards and Aimee Teegarden star in the series, exec produced by Berman, Michael Engler, Kenny Meiselas, Jeff Kwatinetz and Josh Barry. Hagan is co-executive producer. Michael Engler directed the pilot.
