- Christine Taylor has been tapped as the lead of TV Land's untitled Terri Minsky comedy pilot (form. Rip City), while 3rd Rock from the Sun co-star Kristen Johnston is set as the lead of another TV Land comedy pilot, the untitled Mark Reisman project. Scrubs alum Donald Faison will also play a lead in that pilot, formerly known as Ex Men. Meanwhile, Amy Acker (Dollhouse) has landed the only female regular role opposite stars Michael Ealy and Warren Kole in the USA Network's buddy cop dramedy pilot Common Law.
The untitled Terri Minsky project is a multi-camera office comedy set at Rip City Cola, a regional beverage manufacturer and distributor in Oregon. It centers on a thirtysomething, Ivy League-educated New York woman (Taylor) who takes over as the boss, but her enthusiasm is dampened when her boyfriend doesn't follow her and nobody at the new company wants her there. Taylor most recently starred in the Hallmark Channel holiday movie Farewell Mr. Kringle.
The Mark Reisman project revolves around 3 divorced guys, one of them played by Faison, who live in an apartment building where their landlord is their sexy female divorce attorney (Johnston). Johnston, repped by Paradigm and the Hofflund Co., won 2 Emmys for her role on 3rd Rock. She next stars in the indies Vamps and BFF & Baby. Paradigm-repped Faison recently co-starred in the movie Skyline.
Common Law centers on polar opposite LAPD homicide detectives Wes Mitchell (Kole) and Travis Marks (Ealy) whose constant bickering prompts their captain to send them to couples counseling. Acker will play their therapist. She most recently co-starred on ABC's Happy Town and did an arc on the network's No Ordinary Family. Acker also has a role in The Cabin in the Woods, the upcoming feature co-written by Dollhouse creator Joss Whedon.

| Alors que la série a toujours de fortes chances d'être choisie pour continuer à la rentrée, des changements de cast vont amener Amy à quitter la série... - Citation :
- Buddy Cop Pilot ‘Common Law’ Nears Series Order At USA, Will Undergo Some Tweaking
I hear USA Network is finalizing a series pickup of comedic buddy cop drama Common Law starring Michael Ealy. The project, from CBS TV Studios and Jon Turteltaub’s Junction Entertainment, centers on polar-opposite LAPD homicide detectives Travis Marks (Ealy) and Wes Mitchell (Warren Kole), whose nonstop bickering and acrimony prompts their no-nonsense captain Phil Sutton (Jack McGee) to send them to a couples therapist. The role of the therapist, played in the pilot by Amy Acker, will be recast, along with another, smaller part. There will be some reshoots, and I hear the action quotient on the show will be pumped up. With the series order for Common Law, expected by the end of the week, USA will maintain its perfect pilot-to-series batting average. Common Law was one of three cast-contingent pilots ordered by USA last summer, along with Necessary Roughness and Suits (formerly A Legal Mind). The other two have already been picked up to series. Of the three pilots from USA’s second batch, Eden has been completed, while Over/Under and Wild Card are still casting. Common Law was written by Cormac & Marianne Wibberley, who are executive producing with Turteltaub. | |
